What happens after a visit to urgent care?
After the doctor has completed the examination and testing and determined your diagnosis and treatment, you might be given instructions or prescriptions before you go home.

The doctor may also recommend you see a specialist or come back to the clinic for follow up to see how you’re doing.

Men’s Health

What is testosterone?

Falling testosterone levels are a normal part of aging and usually starts around the time you turn 40. By the time you turn 50, your testosterone levels may have decreased by as much as 20%.

How do you know if testosterone levels are low?

After age 50 you might start to notice the decrease in your testosterone levels. Common symptoms of low testosterone levels include:

Depression
Low sex drive
Weight gain
Fatigue
Reduced muscle mass
Some men also experience hot flashes.

Lifestyle and certain medical conditions can lead to a faster decline in your levels, including alcohol abuse, stress, treatment with chemotherapy, hormone medications used to treat prostate cancer, and obesity.

For the doctors at Fast Access Healthcare to get a good picture of your health and provide the best treatment plan, it’s important to share your medical history and health habits honestly.

How do you treat low testosterone?

The doctor may not recommend medication right away. If your testosterone levels are low, the doctors may need to do additional testing to rule out any other health issues before you start hormone treatment.

Testosterone is treated with hormone replacement. These hormones are available in numerous forms, including patches, creams, and oral medications. The doctors at Fast Access Healthcare will work closely with you to determine the method of treatment that works best for you.

Is testosterone treatment safe?

Testosterone treatment is not only safe but effective. The millions of men that undergo treatment report an improvement in energy, mental ability, and sex drive.

If you think that your testosterone levels are on the decline, and it’s affecting your quality of life, call Fast Access Healthcare or book online and schedule an appointment for an examination and to have your levels tested.

Telemedicine

Can I be seen outside of the office?
Throughout the year, we coordinate to bring a mammogram bus onsite to various locations. This gives the ease and simplicity to coordinate your primary care appointments with your breast exam. When there is no medical issue, it can make it much easier and more comfortable to see the same doctor for all your needs.

IV Infusion Therapy

What is IV therapy?

As a clinic that takes a more holistic approach to medicine, Fast Access Healthcare also offers IV vitamin therapy. This treatment option infuses vitamins into your body through a needle in your arm. But not only do you get a vitamin boost, you also get hydrated.

Is IV therapy safe?

The IV therapy offered at Fast Access Healthcare is administered by trained professionals and is safe. You are closely monitored as you receive your infusion.

If you want to know more about IV vitamin therapy or get checked for deficiencies, book an appointment online at one of the clinics or come on in, walk-ins are welcome.

What are the signs of a vitamin deficiency?

When you’re not getting all the nutrients you need, it shows. Fatigue, poor concentration, and muscle weakness are common signs of nutrient deficiencies.

Not getting enough of certain nutrients may cause other symptoms. For example, a lack of vitamin C in your diet may cause you to bruise more easily, low intakes of niacin may make your skin itchy and dry, or low levels of vitamin B12 may cause your hands to feel tingly.

Other signs of a nutrient deficiency include:

  • Dry or pale skin
  • Poor night vision
  • Weakness
  • Brittle or oddly shaped nails
  • Muscle cramps
  • More susceptible to illness
How do you test for vitamin deficiencies?

As a clinic that strives to provide thorough, quality care, the team at Fast Access Healthcare does more than merely test your blood for vitamin deficiencies.

To get a complete picture of your health, the doctor talks to you about your symptoms and completes a physical examination, looking for any signs of a deficiency.

Once the exam is complete, a qualified staff member draws your blood to test your levels for specific nutrients. Most of the Fast Access Healthcare clinics have an onsite lab, so you won’t need to wait long for your results.

How is a vitamin deficiency treated?

Treatment for your deficiency may depend on the nutrient your body is lacking. But in most cases, supplementation may be recommended.

The professional staff at Fast Access Healthcare are well-versed in vitamin supplements and only recommend high-quality vitamins that your body can easily absorb.

Weight Loss Program

Is medical weight loss a fad diet?
The medical weight loss program at Fast Access Healthcare is based on sensible diet practices with realistic goals. However, it’s not a fad diet. The staff at Fast Access Healthcare aims to go the extra mile, especially when it comes to helping you lose the weight.

Not everyone loses weight the same way, and the weight loss coaches work with you one-on-one to develop a plan that fits your specific needs and lifestyle.

What is the medical component of medical weight loss?
Besides diet and nutrition counseling, the doctors at Fast Access Healthcare may also prescribe medication to help you reach your weight loss goals. Why don’t fad diets work? Fad diets don’t work because they don’t teach you how to eat right for the rest of your life.

These types of diets promote weight loss by drastically cutting calories through omission of certain foods or food groups. These restrictions make these diets very difficult to follow long-term. Additionally, fast weight loss usually results in more water and muscle loss than fat loss.

Allergy Testing

What is no-needle allergy testing?

The no-needle allergy test is a skin prick test. A few potential allergens are scratched on the surface of your skin, as many as 80 different allergens. If the area flares up or becomes itchy, you may have identified the allergen that’s troubling you.

The no-needle allergy testing offered at Fast Access Healthcare gives you results in 30 minutes or less.

What allergies are tested?

Fast Access Healthcare can test for the most common allergens, which includes:

Mold, dust, and mites
Pollen
Pet dander
Food allergens

Is this no-needle allergy test safe?
The no-needle allergy test is considered very safe. Your doctor only places a small amount of the allergen on your skin, and they closely monitor you for any severe reactions, which are rare, throughout the test.
How are allergies treated?
Once you know what causes your allergic reaction, the doctors at Fast Access Healthcare develop an individualized treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and limit exposure.

The first thing the doctor will suggest is to eliminate exposure to the allergen. If it’s a food allergy, this means cutting the food from your diet. If it’s pet dander, it may mean keeping pets out of your living space.

To help you further manage your symptoms, your Fast Access doctor might recommend medications such as antihistamines or decongestants. You might also feel relief using eye drops or nasal sprays. If your allergies are severe, your doctor might recommend allergy shots.

If you need to see an allergy specialist, the doctors at Fast Access Healthcare can make a referral.

If you think you have allergies and want to get tested, call the office to schedule an appointment or book online.

Ultrasound

What is an Ultrasound ?

An ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless procedure that uses sound waves to obtain pictures of the inside of your body. The Fast Access doctors might use ultrasound on a particular part of your body if you’re complaining of pain, experiencing swelling, or have an infection.

Fast Access Healthcare offers general ultrasounds at most of their clinics. This type of ultrasound may be used to look at your:

  • Stomach and pancreas
  • Liver and gallbladder
  • Bladder and kidneys
  • Uterus, ovaries, or baby
  • Thyroid and parathyroid glands
What is a vascular ultrasound?

In addition to a general ultrasound, Fast Access Healthcare also offers vascular ultrasounds. This type of ultrasound looks at the arteries and veins throughout your body.

Unlike a general ultrasound, which creates pictures of the stationary parts in your body such as your stomach and heart, a vascular ultrasound can create moving images of the blood coursing through your arteries.

Why would someone need a vascular ultrasound?

The doctors at Fast Access Healthcare might recommend a vascular ultrasound to diagnose:

  • A blood clot
  • Abdominal aneurysm
  • Varicose veins
  • Blocked arteries
How do you prepare for an ultrasound?

As a non-invasive procedure, there’s nothing you need to do to prepare for an ultrasound. And after the test is complete, you can go back to your usual activities.

Whether it’s an urgent medical matter or your primary doctor has recommended an ultrasound, Fast Access Healthcare can help. Walk-ins are welcome or call to schedule an appointment at a nearby clinic online.

How do ultrasounds work?

A sonographer first spreads a special gel on the skin on the area in which the doctor wants to look. Then, the doctor places a probe on the gelled area, which transmits high-frequency sound waves into your body. These sound waves return to the ultrasound computer, which generates an image.

Unlike X-rays, ultrasounds can create a picture without the use of radiation, making it a very safe procedure. And because the image is in real time, it plays like a movie, so the doctor sees not only the structure of what’s being examined but movement, as well.
